Destruction of Property Warrants Lead to Marijuana Discovery in Ontonagon

Great Lakes Radio NewsMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)State Police at the Wakefield Post say while serving felony arrest warrants to two Ontonagon residents for malicious destruction of property yesterday, they uncovered an illegal marijuana growing operation.

Troopers say they arrested a female suspect at the residence after serving the warrants. She told the troopers the man wanted on the charges in the case was not in the residence, however, troopers heard noise coming from the upstairs of the residence.

After a quick search, the man wanted on the warrant was found in the attic. Troopers also located a hidden room that was used for manufacture of marijuana. Troopers obtained a search warrant for the home and seized the growing operation.

The suspects were lodged in the Ontonagon County Jail on the felony malicious destruction warrants. Further charges are pending related to the marijuana growing operation.

No names are being released pending arraignment.
