Michigan’s January Unemployment Rate Holds Steady

    Great Lakes Radio NewsMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)The state’s jobless rate held steady at 8.9 percent in January.

    The Michigan jobless rate in January 2013 was three-tenths of a percentage point below the state’s revised January 2012 rate of 9.2 percent. Both total employment and the workforce rose slightly over the month by 4,000 as the number of unemployed in the state was unchanged.

    The national jobless rate decreased by four-tenths of a percentage point over this period.  The state’s unemployment rate in January was one percentage point above the national rate of 7.9 percent.
