UPDATE – Suspects Arraigned after Armed Robbery in Alger County

Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)Two downstate Bay City residents have been arraigned in connection with an armed robbery and home invasion that happened last week in Alger County.

29-year-old Richard Anthony VanPelt and 20-year-old Samantha Jo Menerey appeared today in 93rd District Court in Alger County.

VanPelt was charged with 1st degree home invasion, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, unlawful imprisonment and armed robbery. Menerey was charged with 1st degree home invasion and armed robbery. The pair are lodged in the Alger County Jail on $100,000 cash bond each.

The two were arrested downstate earlier this week in connection with an incident at a home in AuTrain Township on March 12.  They face a preliminary exam on Tuesday in 93rd District Court.

If convicted, they face up to life in prison on the charges.
