Granholm Not Running for Senate Seat
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm has confirmed that she will not run for U.S. Senate when Democrat Carl Levin of Detroit retires at the end of 2014.
On Friday, Granholm, an instructor at the University of California Berkeley, thanked friends for all of the encouragement on the Michigan Senate seat, but said she has decided not to run for several reasons adding that, ” it’s just not right for us…it’s a family decision.”
Sources have said a more likely scenario down the road would be for Granholm to wait for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to run for president in 2016.
Granholm and the Clintons are close — the former governor was her top Michigan surrogate in 2008.
