One Injured in Truck-Snowmobile Accident in Calumet Township

Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)The Houghton County Sheriff Department says an Iowa man was injured in a weekend snowmobiling accident in Calumet Township.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. Saturday near Swedetown on Osceola Road. Deputies say a pickup truck, driven by John Banovetz of Calumet was northbound on Osceola Road when it was struck by a snowmobile that did not stop at the Osceola Road trail intersection.

The snowmobile was operated by 62-year-old Jerrold Juett from Marin, Iowa.  He was thrown from his machine onto the roadway and suffered a back injury. Juett was taken to Keweenaw Aspirius Hospital for treatment, Banovetz was not injured.
