UPPCO Threatening to Cut Utilities to Non-Paying Customers
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – UPPCO is threatening to disconnect service to more than 2,600 of its customers who are four months or more behind on their utility bills unless they make payments or arrangements.
The company says the number of customers past due and the amount they owe is slightly higher than last year, and they owe it to their good-paying customers to be diligent in efforts to collect.
UPPCO disconnected service to around 1,800 customers in 2012. Customers who are behind and have not yet contacted the utility are being urged to do so right away by calling (800) 562-7680.
UPPCO serves about 52,000 customers in 10 counties throughout the Upper Peninsula.
