Lake Effect Snow Warning for Alger, Schoolcraft

    Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect until 2 p.m. eastern-time this afternoon for Alger and Northern Schoolcraft counties.

    The National Weather Service says the heaviest snow is most likely in an area from Shingleton to Grand Marais and Seney. Expect northwest winds to gust as high as 30 to 35 mph through today, mainly near Lake Superior.

    The winds will cause areas of blowing snow in open areas near Lake Superior. The combination of falling snow and blowing snow will cause occasional whiteout conditions under the heavier snow showers.

    Additional snowfall today will be 2 to 4 inches bringing storm total accumulations to as much as 8 to 12 inches.

    Roads will remain slick and snow covered. The slippery roads and low visibilities will make for dangerous driving conditions at times.
