Houghton, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Houghton County man entered a “No Contest” plea yesterday to two charges in connection with a break-in and car theft last spring in Calumet.

37–year–old Isaac Laplander of Calumet plead to one count of Breaking and Entering with Intent, a 10 year felony, and one count of Unlawful Driving Away of a Vehicle, which is a five year felony.

He must also pay nearly $17,000 in restitution prior to sentencing.

Laplander was accused of breaking into a Calumet auto parts store and later stealing a new Chevrolet Camaro from a Calumet car dealership while out on bond.

He is scheduled to be sentenced next month, but his attorney said some more time may be needed to gather the funds to pay the restitution.
