Woman Safe After Becoming Lost on Drummond Island

Great Lakes Radio NewsMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)State Police in Eastern U.P. say a woman who went missing on Drummond Island this weekend is safe at home.

Troopers from the Sault Ste. Marie post say the 64-year-old woman went looking for her dog Saturday afternoon on the island, but when the weather got bad, she became disoriented and lost in the woods.

Search crews found her yesterday, and she was treated for hypothermia.  Authorities say she broke into a vacant cabin about two miles from her home and found some extra clothes in an attempt to stay warm.
