Power Outage in Houghton
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Upper Peninsula Power Company says power has been restored to the majority of customers in downtown Houghton who lost power yesterday morning due to a vehicle hitting a utility pole.
According to UPPCO, the power was knocked out to about 1,700 customers in the downtown area and along M-26 just after 7 a.m. when an SUV struck a pole along Montezuma Avenue.
No name has been released and the condition of the driver is unknown. UPPCO said the remaining Houghton customers were without power until the later afternoon. Crews changed out the pole.
