So far, 30 Senators, including Debbie Stabenow of Michigan have signed on to co-sponsor the “Protect Our Skies Act” offered up by Republican Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas and Democrat Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut.

The measure would protect air traffic control towers, including the one slated for closure at Sawyer International Airport, and preserve aviation safety across America.

The Protect Our Skies Act would prohibit the Department of Transportation from closing any air traffic control towers during FY 2013 or 2014, including those that are operated by the FAA.
