Ely Township, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A two vehicle crash this morning in Marquette County’s Ely Township injured one person.
The accident happened just after 9:00 a.m. on County Road CD South of County Road PPX.
A southbound pickup, driven by 20-year-old Damien Desjardins-Racine of Marquette, went out of control and crossed the center line and struck an oncoming pickup driven by 62-year-old Jacob Harvala of Ishpeming.
Harvala had attempted to avoid the crash by swerving to the right, but both vehicles side-swiped each other before Harvala’s vehicle ran off the roadway and struck some trees.
Harvala was taken to U.P. Health System-Marquette for non-life threatening injuries.
Desjardins-Racine was not injured.
He was found at fault in the crash and cited for speeding.
