Two Gwinn Residents Arrested for Jewelry Theft from Grandmother

    Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)Marquette City Police have arrested two people on felony larceny charges following a lengthy investigation into the jewelry theft from a Marquette residence.

    34-year-old Jason Bennett and 25-year-old Christina Koskela, both of Gwinn, were arrested yesterday in Gwinn on warrants authorized by the Marquette County Prosecutor.

    The case stems from the theft of jewelry from the apartment of a 75-year-old Marquette woman. Police say the victim was Koskela’s grandmother and the items were taken while the woman was on vacation.

    Records at an area jewelry store showed Koskela and Bennett turned the jewelry in for cash. The pair were lodged in the Marquette County Jail with out incident.

    Koskela is charged with Larceny in a Building and Bennett is charged with Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in a Building. They each face up to four years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine if convicted.
