Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique has moved into its new facility on the city’s west side.

The new building features increased handicap accessibility than the old one, and the rooms are more privatized for patients. Hospital officials say the old hospital will be torn down, but no date has been set for that to happen.

Planning for the new facility began back in 2004, and ground was broken on the project in August of 2011. The overall project cost $25 million to build, with most of the money coming from a federal rural development loan.
