UPPCO Phone Scam

Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)The Upper Peninsula Power Company says a scam is making it’s way around the Copper Country involving a phone solicitation for charitable contributions.

UPPCO officials say a customer in the Hancock area reported receiving a phone call asking for a charitable contribution towards a “safe child” presentation in Hancock schools.

UPPCO says residents are advised to contact their local police agency if they receive a similar call, adding they do not solicit charitable contributions for their series of community and youth presentations.
