YMCA of Marquette County Receives $2.9 Million for Expansion

Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)The YMCA of Marquette County has received nearly $3 million in federal funds to allow for a major expansion of their facility in Marquette.
During an exclusive interview today with YMCA of Marquette County CEO Lisa Coombs-Gerou and U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, they announced a $2,997,000 Rural Development loan for the YMCA of Marquette. Coombs-Gerou says the YMCA will use the loan to double the size of its wellness center, build a new health innovation suite with a classroom and fitness room, two new gymnasiums and make several improvements to the facility adjacent to Lakeview Arena in Marquette.
Senator Stabenow is Chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, which has jurisdiction over rural development projects. The loan is made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Program.
