MDOT’s Adopt-A-Highway Clean Up Tomorrow

    Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)The Michigan Department of Transportation will start the Adopt-A-Highway litter pickup program in the Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Peninsula tomorrow.

    It will run until May 5 south of the Mackinac Bridge and May 12 in the U.P. due to the snow that’s currently on the ground.  Volunteers cleaned roadsides in lower Michigan from April 13 to 21.

    M-DOT says in 2012, Adopt-A-Highway volunteer groups reported collecting about 65,000 bags of trash, a cost benefit to the state of $5.6 million. This year’s second Adopt-A-Highway pickup will be from July 13 to 21, followed by the final pickup from September 21 to 29.
