Flood Warnings in U.P.
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The National weather Service says a Flood Watch continues for the Peshekee River near Champion in Marquette County.
Rapid melting of the above normal snowpack over much of the river’s basin will continue and the flood watch is in effect from through Thursday evening.
At last report, the river water was staging was 4.6 feet. Flood stage is 8.5 feet.
A flood advisory is posted for the Chocolay River in Marquette county until tomorrow afternoon. Residents along the river should remain alert and exercise caution if walking near riverbanks. At 12 a.m. Monday the water was staging at 9.4 feet. Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
Flood warnings continue for the following U.P rivers: The Sturgeon River near Alston affecting Houghton and Baraga counties, the Sturgeon River near Chassell affecting Houghton County and the Paint River at Crystal Falls affecting Iron County.
