Two Vehicle Accident Leaves DeTour Woman Dead

Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)State Police at the St. Ignace Post are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash in Mackinac County that happened on Saturday.

The accident happened on M-134 near South Short Street in Clark Township just after 1:30 p.m. Troopers say a westbound vehicle, driven by 66-year-old Joann Fountain of DeTour Village, crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle, driven by an unidentified 65-year-old Cedarville man.

Investigators say it appears a medical condition may have caused Fountain to cross the center line. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to War Memorial Hospital and was treated and released.

Troopers say both drivers were wearing their seat-belts and airbags deployed in the vehicles at the time of the accident.
