Record Breaking Food Drive in Marquette County
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Organizers with a recent food drive in the western end of Marquette County say it was a record-breaking success.
Coordinator Dick Derby says the “Project: Feed A Neighbor” food drive brought in a larger collection than in past years through the efforts of Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming, Mitchell United Methodist in Negaunee and the Pioneer Kiwanis of Ishpeming covering the Republic area.
Donations from the community added over 7,500 pounds of food items to the various Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul food pantries in each town.
Derby says the group is now looking forward to working on their next event, “Project: Keep Kids Warm”, a clothing drive for needy children and families in Marquette County.
