Fatal Snowmobile Accident In Alger County

Munising, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Police are continuing their investigation into a fatal snowmobiling accident yesterday in Alger County.

Troopers say the crash occurred in Munising Township on H-13 near the Hiawatha National Forest Wide Waters Campground access road.

A machine operated by 57-year-old Steve Short of Fort Wayne, Indiana was Southbound on H-13 around 5:00 p.m. when he lost control of the snowmobile, it crossed the roadway, struck the snowbank and overturned.

Short was killed when he was thrown from his snowmobile.

Excessive speed was a factor in the crash.
