Kivela Calls Oakland County Executive’s Words ‘Irresponsible’
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – 109th District State Representative John Kivela is criticizing Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson for comparing Republican House Speaker Jase Bolger to Adolph Hitler.
Patterson was on public TV’s “Off the Record” program and when asked about the Speaker, he responded “you mean Adolph Bolger?”
He then pulled a comb from his pocket and placed it on his upper lip, creating a Hitler-like mustache.
Kivela says although the comments came from an angry Patterson during the controversial effort by Republicans to repeal Michigan’s unlimited medical coverage under the state’s no-fault auto insurance law, his words were irresponsible and have no place in the discussion.
The Marquette Democrat does add, however, that auto insurance in Michigan does require some review. Kivela says auto insurance companies and those in the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association need to be honest about all of the figures involved in the system as a first step to effective reform.
