Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)Work is beginning on a half-million dollar dredging project in Marquette’s Presque Isle Marina.

The Marquette City Parks and Recreation Department says the marina will be closed to all traffic because a barrier will be placed at the mouth of the harbor so that the dredged materials do not wash into Lake Superior.

The project will be fully-funded with money from the state’s Waterways Fund and will take between eight and 10 weeks to complete.

While the project is being worked on, boaters should use the Cinder Pond access site in the Lower Harbor to get their boats into the lake.
