Stupak, a Menominee Democrat who had been weighing a bid for governor himself, joined a growing list of potential Democratic candidates to throw their support behind Schauer. Stupak says Schauer is one of the hardest-working people he’s ever met, and “I know he’d make a terrific governor.”

Stupak, who represented northern Michigan in the U.S. House from 1993 to 2011, says he is looking forward to campaigning alongside Schauer in the Upper Peninsula.
