Bessemer Man Sentenced to Life in Prison
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) –A Bessemer man has been sentenced for the killing of his elderly wife.
50-year-old Kenneth Peters, who was found guilty on all counts in the death of 79-year-old Ethel Grzena-Peters, was sentenced to life in prison yesterday.
A Gogebic County jury found Peters guilty of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and second-degree vulnerable adult abuse in a recent trial. In Michigan, a first-degree murder conviction carries an automatic sentence of life in prison without parole.
Grzena-Peters disappeared last August and her body was found about ten days later. The trial lasted three weeks and the jury found Peters guilty on all counts after about 12 hours of deliberations.
