MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Dickinson County man has been arraigned on marijuana charges.
Mark Baker, a 52–year–old Channing man, was arraigned in Dickinson County District Court on a charge of Delivery and Manufacture of five to 45 kilograms of marijuana, which carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison. He is also charged with being a Third Offense Habitual Offender, which, under Michigan law, could double the maximum sentence.
State Police at the Iron Mountain Post arrested Baker in Channing last Wednesday while authorities were seeking a suspect wanted on a parole violation. Troopers searched the home after they smelled a strong aroma of marijuana coming from inside the residence.
Police seized marijuana plants and processed marijuana with an estimated street value of over $121,000.
Baker faces a preliminary exam on May 31 at 9:15 a.m. He is currently lodged in the Dickinson County Jail on $50,000 bond.
