Official Opening of Marquette Beaches Postponed
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) –The City of Marquette says they are postponing the official opening of the city’s beaches due to the cold weather.
Officials with the Fire Department say they normally open the beaches for the season on Memorial Day Weekend, but the unseasonable weather is causing them to hold off on opening until Wednesday, May 29.
After that date, the beaches will be staffed with lifeguards seven days a week from Noon to 8 p.m.
The City’s usual beach season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
