Employment Increases in 13 MI Regions

Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) –Seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates declined in 15 of Michigan’s 17 major labor market areas in April.

According to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget, total employment levels increased in 13 regions over the month, while labor force levels were up in ten areas.

The Ann Arbor area had the state’s lowest jobless rate last month at 5.1 percent while Northeast Lower Michigan had the highest at 11.8 percent. The rate for the period in the U.P. was 9.8 percent while Marquette County had a rate of 8.3 percent.

Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in April was 8.4 percent.
