Great Lakes Radio News UpdatesMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Upper Peninsula Power Company crews are working to restore power to customers around the central U.P. who lost power yesterday evening as strong storms moved through the region.

At last report, well over 1,000 customers in areas including Republic, L’Anse, Ishpeming and others were without electrical service. Reports say strong thunderstorms brought high winds and heavy rains across the central U.P. that knocked down trees and power lines in many areas.

UPPCO has no official timeline for restoring all of the power, but they say crews are working as fast as possible to get the outages fixed.
