Education Budget Heads to Governor’s Office for Signature

Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) –Governor Rick Snyder is expected to soon sign an education budget for 2014, which was approved by the Michigan Legislature last week.

Included in the budget is a two percent increase for Michigan’s 15 public universities, with that part of the overall education budget totaling about $31 million.

Schools are expected however, to keep tuition rate increases at or below 3.75 percent to obtain funding tied to performance, including the number of completed degrees.

Sponsors say the idea is to make college education more affordable.
