Ishpeming, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the driver injured in an ATV accident Saturday morning in Tilden Township.

56-year-old James Laitinen of Ishpeming was seriously injured when he missed a curve on Trail #82 just west of Stoneville Road and struck a tree around 1:00 a.m.

He was trapped in the vehicle for several hours and was discovered by some passing snowmobilers just after 9:30 a.m.

Laitinen was transported to UP Health System–Marquette after complaining of severe abdominal pain.  He was last listed in serious but stable condition.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
