MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – An Upper Peninsula man was arraigned Monday for making terrorist threats.
28-year old James Bugg of Rapid River faces one count of attempted weapons/dangerous weapons – miscellaneous, for allegedly manufacturing a bomb or bombshell in a May 25 incident.
Bugg was arrested Friday night without incident in Delta County’s Masonville Township after a joint investigation by the Michigan State Police, the FBI, and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Authorities say Bugg, who is a convicted felon, made threats on the internet to build an explosive device and attempt to harm people at a public venue.
Bugg is being held at the Delta County jail on $50,000 bond. He faces up to 2 1/2 years in prison if convicted. The incident remains under investigation.
