Brimley Women Sentenced to Prison Time for Possession of Firearms
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – An eastern U.P. woman has been sentenced for felony firearms possession.
46-year-old Patricia Sawasky of Brimley was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of firearms. Sawasky also must serve two years of supervised release following prison.
Sawasky pled guilty in February. Her case stemmed from the execution of a search warrant at a residence where, while being taken into custody on an outstanding warrant, Sawasky assaulted a tribal officer. During the execution of the search, eleven firearms were located in the residence. The firearms included a .50 caliber revolver.
Sawasky, who had been previously convicted of a felony drug offense in Michigan, admitted that she had handled the .50 caliber revolver and had ready access to the other firearms in the residence.
