MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)Michigan Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville has announced the Medicaid work group that he said he would create after majority Senate Republicans did not take a vote on a House-passed bill to expand Medicaid eligibility.

The work group is to be headed by Senator Roger Kahn of Saginaw Township, who has long been a proponent of expanding Medicaid and including reforms that encourage healthy behaviors and personal responsibility for recipients.

He will be joined by Senator Bruce Caswell of Hillsdale, also a proponent of expanding access to low-income individuals though not through a Medicaid expansion.

Four other downstate GOP senators will round out the group, all of whom were considered swing votes last week.  The work  group will be meeting over the summer.
