Michigan Nurses AssociationMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Michigan Nurses Association is holding an event later today in Marquette to encourage state lawmakers to vote on Medicaid expansion.

Organizers say they are holding the event to remind Republican State Senator Tom Casperson and others that “illness doesn’t take a vacation” and to return to Lansing and vote “yes” on Medicaid expansion.

The event will be held at 2:30 p.m. in front of the old City Hall building in downtown Marquette.

Nurses wearing red scrubs will be holding signs featuring the numbers of patients in various Upper Peninsula counties who will gain health coverage if the Medicaid legislation passes.

The Michigan Nurses Association represents nearly 11,000 R-Ns statewide.
