Former Secretary of State Running for U.S. Senate Seat
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Republican National Committee woman and former Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land has filed the paperwork needed to run for the U.S. Senate in 2014.
Land is the first Republican to enter the race to succeed retiring Democratic U.S. Senator Carl Levin. During a stop today in Marquette, the 54-year old Land says she will be hitting the road over the next few months on a listening tour to hear how Washington D.C. could be improved.
Last month, Land said it was her intention to get into the race, but wanted to wait until July 1 to make it official. U.S. Representative Gary Peters of Bloomfield Township has all but cleared the field for the Democratic nomination.
