Semi Tips Over on Mackinac Bridge

Great Lakes Radio NewsMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Mackinac Bridge was re-opened early this morning after a semi tractor trailer tipped over while crossing the bridge last night.

Reports say the truck was northbound on the bridge when it left the roadway around 9 p.m. and came to a rest against the guardrail and bridge deck support wires.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority closed the bridge to clear the scene around 10:30 p.m. The Bridge Authority reported winds over 65 miles per hour on the bridge, but whether they played a role in the accident is not being released at this time.

The driver of the semi-truck was not seriously injured in the accident and the bridge was re-opened around 12:40 a.m.
