Marquette Board of Light, Power Phone Scam

Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A new phone scam of customers of The Marquette Board of Light and Power is making the rounds.

Phones calls to residents and businesses say their power service will be shut off if they do not pay their balance immediately. The number is a Detroit area phone number with a 313 area code, and the person on the phone identifies themselves as either Brian or James.

They ask for personal or business financial information over the phone and instruct you to make a payment at either CVS Pharmacy or Radio Shack.

The Marquette Board of Light and Power is telling anyone who receives such a call that it is bogus and to simply hang up.
