Semi Hits Railroad Overpass in Escanaba

Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Escanaba Public Safety says traffic was re-routed this morning on North Lincoln south of Danforth Road after a semi-truck struck a railroad overpass.

The accident was reported on the 1700 block of the roadway around 6:30 a.m. when the load trailer of a westbound semi-truck collided with the bridge. The clearance at the overpass is listed at 14 feet and 3 inches, but it is not known at this time why the truck’s trailer exceeded that limit.

Minor injuries were reported by a driver of a vehicle that was in the eastbound lane, that was struck by debris from the semi. Traffic affected by the accident was being diverted to Danforth Road.

The investigation into the accident is continuing.
