July Fourth Drunk Driving Crackdown Gets Results
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Police say Michigan law enforcement officers made 4,434 traffic stops and arrested 131 drunk drivers during the July Fourth Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over crackdown that ran from July 1-7.
This included 25 arrests under the state’s high blood alcohol content law (.17 or higher), while an additional 45 motorists were arrested for drug-related offenses.
Officers from 156 agencies in 26 counties took part in the crackdown which was coordinated by the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning and funded by federal traffic safety dollars.
