Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Downtown Marquette Farmer’s Market is one of 10 markets around the state selected to receive grant funds from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
The Farmers Market Grant Program provides grants up to $50,000 to existing farmers markets that have operated for at least four years. Projects making the markets more accessible to residents were given preference.
A $24,537 MEDC grant and $43,623 in matching funds will be used by Marquette Downtown Development Authority to revamp the Marquette Commons.
The changes are being done to better meet the needs of the farmers market by making it more aesthetically pleasing and adding needed amenities.
