Michigan State Police
Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State and local police are beginning extra patrols today to combat drunk driving leading up to the Labor Day Holiday period.
The Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning says extra patrols from 155 agencies in 26 counties will be paying special attention to drunk drivers under the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement effort through September 2nd.
Authorities will be paying special attention to the next three weekends when drunk driving is the worst.
Police in Michigan made 350 drunk driving arrests and issued more than 45-hundred seat belt citations during a Labor Day Holiday enforcement period last year.
