Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – U.S Congressman Dan Benishek says he is not supporting President Barack Obama’s plan for an American military strike against Syria. Benishek says he is planning to vote NO on the President’s request from Congress for support.
In an exclusive interview with Great Lakes Radio News Director Walt Lindala yesterday, Congressman Benishek said he did not believe getting America involved in another nation’s civil war is in the best interest of our nation.
Benishek said he has received thousands of contacts from citizens in his district with the overwhelming majority being opposed to new military action in Syria.
He added that he believes that after a decade of war in the Middle East, citizens in Northern Michigan have grown tired of war and rightfully weary about getting involved in another conflict.
