Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – At least two bills are being introduced in the Michigan House to ban the sale of electronic cigarettes — also called “e-cigarettes” — to minors.

The separate bills are sponsored by House Republican Rick Outman of Six Lakes, and House Democrat Sam Singh of East Lansing.

Outman says users of vapor cigarettes are still ingesting nicotine, so they should be kept away from minors.

Singh says the idea behind his bill is that e-cigarettes should be treated like tobacco, in that sales are prohibited to minors.

Penalties are laid out in both bills.
