One Injured In Skandia Twp. SUV/Pedestrian Accident

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies were called out to a vehicle/pedestrian accident yesterday evening in Skandia Township.

The accident happened around 5:00 p.m. on the 100 block of Ingalls Road when a 56-year-old Skandia man backed his 2006 Chevrolet Trail Blazer out of his driveway, striking a 61-year-old Skandia man who was walking by.

Deputies say the driver of the vehicle was operating under the influence of alcohol and was arrested and charged with Operating While Impaired – Causing Serious Injury.

He is now lodged in Marquette County Jail where he will remain until his arraignment.

The pedestrian was taken to Marquette General Hospital and at last report was being treated for internal injuries.

No names have been released by authorities at this time.
