Fatal Traffic Crash in Munising Township

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Alger County Sheriff’s Department and the State Police at the Munising Detachment responded to a fatal traffic crash early this morning in Munising Township.

Reports say the accident happened just before 5:00 a.m. when two vehicles collided head-on on Federal Forest Highway 13 in Munising about a half-mile from M-28.

Authorities say 20-year-old Scott David Mellon of AuTrain was killed in the crash. 27-year-old Brandon Lester of Garden, the driver of the second vehicle, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at Munising Memorial Hospital and later released.

The investigation is continuing, but no additional information has been released.
