High Speed Chase in Baraga County

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – One person was arrested after a high speed chase early this morning in Baraga County.

Officers with Baraga Police say alcohol appears to have been a factor in the incident that started in the Village of Baraga where the suspect’s vehicle was clocked at speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour.

The chase then headed towards the Baraga Plains during which patrol cars were damaged by the suspect’s vehicle.

An officer with the Keweenaw Bay Tribal Police was injured and was treated at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.

Also assisting in the chase were L’Anse Police and the Baraga County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver was eventually stopped by police and taken into custody.

The name is being withheld pending arraignment.
