Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Several residents came out in protest against plans to upgrade the road leading to the Eagle Mine in Western Marquette County last night.

Residents who live along County Road 510 and the Triple-A Road appeared at the Marquette County Road Commission’s regular meeting.

The proposed improvements would be paid for by Eagle Mine owner Lundin Mining.

The group is opposed to a 55 mile-per-hour speed limit on the road and is against using the policy of eminent domain to take private property to create a wider road bed.

Reports say the Road Commission is making a final decision on the road plan by the end of the month.
