Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – U.S. Congressman Dan Benishek says he voted in support of legislation yesterday to reopen the federal government and prevent the nation from defaulting.

Benishek says he supported the bipartisan compromise because families in his district deserve a government that is open and running.

The Iron River Republican says the bill is not perfect, but it is in the best interest of citizens in Northern Michigan and everyone interested in keeping the nation’s debt in check.

Benishek is now calling for both sides of the aisle work together on long-term ideas that will create jobs, reduce spending, and build a better future.
