Ishpeming, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Ishpeming Police are continuing their investigation into a two-vehicle crash yesterday morning at US-41 and Second Street.

It happened just before 8:00 a.m. when an SUV driven by 57-year-old Thomas Beauchamp of Marquette was turning onto the highway from Second Street and was hit by a westbound DNR truck driven by 43-year-old Jason Peterson, also of Marquette.

Witnesses said the truck ran a red light and struck the SUV. Beauchamp had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to UP Health System-Marquette where he was last listed in serious condition.

Peterson suffered minor injuries and was treated and released.

Police say an underlying medical issue with Peterson may have contributed to the accident.

A passenger in the DNR truck was not injured.
